DAY 01 CUSCO/MACHU PICCHU
Departure from Cusco's San Pedro train station on a the train that heads to Machu Picchu. We get off at Km 104's station to begin the 2 day trek along the Inca trail that leads to Machu Picchu. After crossing the Urubamba river, we reach Chachabamba, a small archeological site worth visiting. After trekking uphill during two hours we reach a large archaeological site located in a beautiful natural mountain setting called Wiñaywayna. It is, perhaps, one of the most beautiful citadels of the Inca trail. After one hour we will arrive to the Intipunku, (Sun Gate), where we get our first glimpse of Machu Picchu. We finally cross the ridge that leads to our destination, and the full grandeur of the greatest archaeological discovery of modern times is revealed. We drive by bus downhill to spend the night at the Presidente Hotel or similar in Aguas Calientes.
DAY 02 MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO
We return to the citadel in the early light of dawn by bus, for an extensive guided tour. Then we take an exciting train ride, traveling in the first class tourist coach along the Urubamba valley back to Cusco and transfer to the hotel.

NOTE You will need to leave your luggage in the Cusco hotel, all the hotels in Cusco provide a secure luggage deposit. Put any valuables in their safe.
* Participants need to be in good physical health and condition to be able to enjoy the Inka Trail. The trekking will be difficult if you have not exercised regularly before your trip. To fully enjoy an Inka Trail adventure, we advise passengers to get into an exercise program for their own safety and enjoyment. If a passenger suffers from any medical condition, we advise him/her to consult a physician about joining an Inka Trail Expedition.
